You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.

That’s an easy one! The Costume Wrangler’s Closet is my online shop where I sell all my awesome handmade geekery, stuff like headbands, bags, purses, pouches, wallets, and anything else I feel compelled to create! Do you want to know more? Check out My Story!
Actually, I make custom costumes, clothing, and cosplay. But because I make those pieces custom, I don’t have many pieces I can list for sale (they’d be way too hard to reproduce). The good news is you can see examples of my costume design and construction portfolio to get a sense of what I can make for you. The truth is, if it’s out of fabric, I can make it. Contact me if you want to talk about a custom piece.
You’re right. It’s not always cheap to get something custom made just for you. However, the cost really depends on what you’re getting made. Many of the times if you’re looking for a style of bag I already make, but you want to switch out the fabric, the cost is going to be the same.
Some things that affect cost are:
- Custom printed fabrics (especially when used as lining)
- Specialty fabrics
- Specialty hardware
- Hand sewn embellishments
- Extra embroidery
- Expedited shipping
- Complexity of the design
- Extra fittings (for corsets and cosplay)
- Making a mock up first (for corsets and cosplay)
- Hand dyeing, painting, or distressing

If you’ve got an idea for a custom piece – a bag, an outfit, a costume, a wedding dress, whatever – I’m happy to talk to you about it and even draw up an initial sketch. And I’ll do that for free! There’s no commitment either. So if you decide you don’t want your piece built (or if something comes up and you can’t get your piece built right now), no worries. There’s no obligation to buy something or make an order of any kind. Contact me if you’ve got questions or want to talk about a design idea you have!
I guarantee all my work! I want you to be happy with your purchase, and if you’re not happy then I really want you to give me the chance to make things right. Please contact me if you’re having trouble with a purchase so we can work together to solve the problem.
I want you to be happy with your purchase! If you’re not happy, I really want you to give me the opportunity to make things right. Please contact me if you’re having trouble with a purchase so we can work together to solve the problem. If you decide, for whatever reason, you want to return your purchase, it has to be in the same excellent condition it was when you first bought it. You’re welcome to mail the piece back to me and I will refund you the purchase price. I cannot refund you the shipping. If the piece you’re unhappy with was something I custom made for you, I’m sorry I can’t take it back or offer you a refund. However, please contact me so we can work together towards a solution!
I would be absolutely horrified if something you purchased from me fell apart. I always use the most excellent quality supplies I can get my hands on, and I build all my pieces to last. However, if you’re having a problem with a piece falling apart, please contact me! I want the opportunity to make things right for you, and I really want you to be happy with your purchase. You’re welcome to mail your piece back to me so I can repair it (or even replace it if necessary).
Unless I told you otherwise when you purchased your piece, this stuff is absolutely washable! I recommend spot treating any stains as necessary and then washing your piece in cold water using a mild detergent (something without perfumes or dyes is best). And yes, you can totally throw it into the washing machine. I also recommend you dry it on a low setting (or even let it air dry). Don’t hesitate to contact me if you’re not sure how to clean and care for your purchase.
I use a flat shipping rate to make things as simple as possible. Everything is shipped via USPS. If you’d like to arrange expedited shipping or even special packaging (like gift wrap), please contact me! I’m happy to work with you.
- $5 – small items (like headbands, coin pouches, and some bags)
- $8 – medium items (most bags)
- $18 – large items (really rare, but an example would be an entire costume, something that requires a lot of packaging or is a really unusual size).
- $18 – All international shipping starts here. Please contact me if you’ve got questions!
If you’ve ordered a piece I already have built and in stock, then I’ll be getting your new purchase in the mail within 1 business day of your order. I ship everything USPS, and once your purchase is in the mail, it usually takes between 2 – 5 days (for US orders) for it to arrive on your doorstep.
If you live in the KC area and want to arrange to pick up your purchase, contact me. I’m happy to meet you so you can pick up your piece (and refund your shipping too!).
If you’ve ordered a piece I do not have in stock, or if you’ve ordered a custom piece, it can take me between 2 – 4 weeks (or more, depending on the piece) to build your new item. This is because I’ve got to fit your awesome piece into my build schedule, and I might need to order special supplies too. Most of the time I’ll have what supplies I need in stock, and I can get your piece done pretty quickly. But if you’re in a hurry and need your piece by a specific date, let me know! Contact me so I can work with you to get your piece to you by the time you need it.
As always, if you ever have questions about your purchase, just contact me. I’m happy to give you an update on how your piece is coming along. I’ll even send you pictures if you want!
Everything in The Costume Wrangler’s Closet is handmade. That means I make it (sometimes with the help of my mom and sister-in-law). Yes, I actually sit down and make each piece! Each pouch, purse, wallet, headband, bag – I make it all with my own two hands.
But why should you care? What’s so special about something being handmade?
By purchasing handmade, you’re supporting me, a solo-entrepreneur and artist. You’re also support small businesses, my local economy, and American workers. I source as much of my supplies locally as possible. If not sourced locally, then I absolutely buy from American companies and suppliers. Some of my suppliers are small business owners like myself. I’m also proud to use the American company, Spoonflower, to print my original fabric designs. They use environmentally friendly printing practices, and by ordering fabric on demand there’s less waste.
Most importantly, handmade products are unique. They’re special, even one-of-a-kind, since no two pieces will every be exactly the same. That’s the beauty of not buying something mass produced. You get a piece that’s as unique and individual as you are.
My work isn’t for everyone. I build excellent quality pieces that I guarantee. If you can find the same exact piece, built with the same high standards, that has the same 100% satisfaction guarantee that I offer, and you can find that piece for less money? Go forth and conquer!
OK. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did!
